Following the unlawful detention of the former Emir of Kano, HRM Sanusi Lamido Sanusi by His Excellency Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Executive Governor of Kano State, a renowned and popular clergyman Apostle Johnson Suleman has come out to show his anger over the act.
According to him, it is unlawful to detain someone who has not committed an offense. He said that disrespecting a governor is not an offense punishable by law and as such, it is unlawful for the governor to detain the former Emir of Kano State.
In his statement he said ” I can understand the dethronment of the former emir of kano.what I dont understand is the detention.over what?a governor has right to depose a traditional ruler but has no right to detain anyone who has not committed an offence.disrespecting a governor is not a criminal offence.”.
HRM Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has reportedly been held in detention after his dethronement as the Emir of Kano by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
