Consequently, A lot of reactions have ensued after the historical defeat of the Catalan club. One of such reactions is Gerard Pique sensationally offering to leave the Spanish club.
A tearful Pique gave an emotional response post-match (in a video interview posted on FC Barcelona’s Twitter page)
“It’s a horrible match. An awful feeling. An embarrassment,” he said after the match. “This is not the first, not the second, not the third time this has happened. This is a tough decision and I hope it helps.
“We need to reflect on this. I think the club needs changes, and I don’t mean the manager or any specific players. I don’t want to single anyone out. Structurally, the club needs changes.
“It is a shame, I can’t say anything else. Like I said, It’s not the first or the second time. The club needs changes of all kinds. No one is indispensable. I’ll be the first one to offer to go because the club needs fresh blood.
“I think we’ve hit rock bottom. We all need to reflect on this and decide what’s best for the club, as that’s the most important thing “
A good number of fans blame Pique for Bayern’s fifth goal which shut the gate of any hope Barca had of deploying a comeback.
Barcelona will now end the season trophyless, as their only hope of a silverware has been extinguished by their 8:2 defeat.
