Comrade Adams Oshiomole, the embattled APC National Chairman who was recently suspended by a High Court and told to stop parading himself as APC Chairman has been a subject of debate over the past 2 weeks. Looking critically into the performance of the APC in the just concluded general elections and the tribunal cases that followed up, one will accept and admit that the APC has not made good use of their status as the ruling party.
The recent sacking of their Governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, Mr. David Lyon was like the last straw that broke the camel’s back as party faithful criticized his administrative style as being stiff and self-centered, but then Oshiomole is just a Party chairman and looking at the past government one will think that the President who is a member of the APC should be blamed too for the party’s poor performances. They had an extremely poor election performance in the oil-rich Akwa Ibom State where they lost almost all the contested positions even with the presence of strong political forces in the State.
And while we do not know for sure if the President is on Oshiomole’s side or against him, we know for sure that the President should be able to protect his party’s interest though the overall interest of the nation is paramount.
The APC from the National level doesn’t really look like a united home and this could affect them in the forthcoming general elections 2023. Is sacking Oshiomole the solution to the party’s administrative problems?
