The rise of insecurity in the Northern states in Nigeria has changed some narratives for bad reasons. House owners are now considering becoming tenants just to stay alive.
According to former Senator Shehu Sani, sometimes it looks or feels safer to be a tenant than to be a landlord.
He lamented that most house owners in the outskirts of Kaduna are now living in rented apartments deep inside Kaduna city for safety.
He said; Some people who own houses in the Outskirts of Kaduna are abandoning them for rented apartments deep inside the city where it’s relatively safer. Sometimes it’s safer to be a tenant than being a Landlord.
Kaduna State is one of the states that has been seriously affected by activities of bandits within the past one year. The governor, El-Rufai has vowed never to negotiate with bandits but will ensure they are crushed.
