Officers of the Nigerian Police Force have assaulted and fractured an Akwa Ibom Doctor who was reporting for duty at the hospital for allegedly violating the Stay at home order of the Government.
The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria announced this violation and decried the molestation the doctor faced in the hands of an officer of the Police.
The statement read:
“A Doctor was assaulted by a police officer in Akwa Ibom because of the state shut down while on his way to the hospital and was injured after identifying himself with two different ID means. He is a surgeon and they fractured his bones”.
Many doctors have reacted calling for a decisive action from the Association.
Recall that the shut down order has exempted clearly all those who provide necessary services with Doctors topping the chart.
The assault on this doctor is coming on the heels of complaints by citizens of some states as to the abuse they have been facing in the hands of officers of the force.
Recently, videos of some army officers threatening to rape the women of Warri surfaced online. The army has confirmed the arrest of the said officers but concerns of abuse of citizens still lingers.
