In a bid to calm the tension generated by the Greenfield University abducted students saga, the presidency has assured Nigerian and parents of the abducted children that the federal government will ensure safe return of their abducted students.
22 students and matron of the female hostel were abducted from the university’s premises at Kasarami Chikun Local Government Area along Kaduna-Abuja Express way on April 20, 2021.
The bandits, who initially contacted the distressed parents and demanded N800 million ransom, later killed five of the students for failure of the parents and the university management to respond.
Reacting to this, the presidency has promised to work with the Kaduna State government to ensure that the abducted students are rescued.
“We deeply share the anguish of the parents of the abducted Greenfield University students. The Federal Government through the military & intelligence agencies is working to support the Kaduna State Govt to bring this tragic saga to an end with no further loss of innocent life.”
The federal government called on Nigerians to remain united in the face of these challenging moments irrespective of thier religions and ethnic differences.
“We will ensure that good triumphs over evil, & that all of the bandits & criminals terrorizing innocent lives & communities are brought to book. This is a time for all Nigerians to unite, regardless of religion, ethnicity or partisan affiliation—against a common, dastardly enemy”. The presidency urged Nigerians.
