The death of the former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari was officially announced on the 18th of April, 2020.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu made a statement with regards to the death of the former Chief of Staff.
He said: “As they prepare to bury the ashes of Abba Kyari this morning in Abuja, let it be known that contrary to government directives, Abba Kyari’s body was cremated in Cuba upon being pronounced dead two weeks ago when his life support machine was switched off,” Kanu alleged.
